4. On-the-Job Training

Who does it:
Not specified
What they do:
Congregants use their skills to assist with area business development or to teach others skills needed for employment.
Time commitment:
Variable.
Who they do it for and why:
They provide on-the-job training at congregant-owned businesses, hold job application and interviewing skills seminars at the temple or a central community location, and raise scholarship money to send worthy candidates to occupational school or college.
We would need:
¨ Someone to determine if such opportunities are presently provided in the Tulsa area. If so, do the sponsoring organizations need volunteers?
¨ Where no such opportunities presently exist, someone would need to determine how many unemployed or underemployed persons - both in the Jewish community and in the community at large - would benefit from such services. That information is probably available from social service agencies.
¨ One or more persons willing to assume leadership of the project and manage it.
¨ A pool of volunteers willing to undergo appropriate training, then to commit to participating in the program as their interests and the program's needs coincide.
