Tour of Temple Israel

STOP III Entry Hall

A. Judaica Cases (Click on photo below for a larger image)

These cases in the hall house the Temple's Judaica collection of ritual objects. We also have one case with objects on loan from Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art.

B. Shofar Sculpture

This sculpture on the wall was designed by Chuck Tomlins from T.U. and symbolizes shofars or rams horns. Since biblical times, the shofar has been used as a call to worship. In the present time, the shofar is sounded during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur in the fall (the High Holidays). The Hebrew text above the says "Hear O Israel". The small plaques represent donations to the Temple in someone's honor or in someone's memory.

C. Youth Center

The Youth Center is a multi-purpose room used for our young people for recreation, religious services, and social events.

D. Miller Auditorium

Miller Auditorium is a large multi-purpose room. It also serves as an extension to the sanctuary for High Holyday services
